Welcome to my website and thank you for reading. I made this site so that it is easier to show what I have done so far academically and as a journalist.
In the past year I wrote two master theses. My journalism thesis was about online communication as a legitimate form of protest. To research this I looked at the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag to see the ways in which African-American protest jumped to mainstream media via Twitter. After graduating from my International Journalism master I am now working to finish my master degree in English literary studies. I wrote my English thesis about the author Katherine Mansfield and the way in which feminist theory works in the actual practice of writing and publishing biographies.
In addition to making academic progress, I have been working on developing my journalistic skills. I was a journalist for the St. Gallen Symposium in Switzerland this past May. I got to question business men, female politicians, and scientists about anything to do with ‘disruption.’ In 2015 and 2016 I interned for Radio 1 and Elsevier (economy). During my studies I was editor-in-chief for 2 student publications (a radio production and a digital magazine) and worked on developing my own voice and experimenting with forms of storytelling.
Writing, language, and literature are my passions. I combine these with my interest in sociological questions that revolve around societal inequality, intercultural communication, and complicated systems (like the Dutch tax system for instance).
